Magick and Esotericism in the Urban Utopia

Conference Program

Mapping the Occult City: Exploring Magick and Esotericism in the Urban Utopia

A pre-conference for the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Religions in Chicago, on Friday November 16, 2012, presented by DePaul University and Phoenix Rising Academy.

Location: Richard M. and Maggie C. Daley Building. 14 E. Jackson Blvd, Room 806. Corner of Jackson Blvd. and State St in the Chicago Loop.

The  Chicago  Occult Tour with Ken Melvoin-Berg has been cancelled, but there will be a free tour of downtown Chicago occult landmarks with Jason Winslade and Rik Garrett. Read more under “Guided Tour”.

The event has deliberately been split into two sessions to avoid a scheduling clash with the Envisioning Alternative Academic Careers Workshop presented by our colleague Dr. Amy Hale under the auspices of the AAR Annual Meeting. This highly recommended  workshop is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 16th, 2-5pm, and the timing is such that attendees will have ample time to attend both events if they wish. Details of Dr. Hale’s workshop are  available on page  232  of the AAR  Program Book.
